about me
My name is Lotte van Schijndel and this is my story. I started at the Fashion Academy in Antwerp, went on to study Fashion at ArtEZ Arnhem, and then moved to Paris for an internship that turned into years of working in fashion, first in Paris, than in the Netherlands. After that came a short period in the home decoration industry. Fifteen years in a world that is beautiful, but also a race that asks a great deal of you.
I loved the work. And I noticed I was also looking for something different. A balance. Enough stimulation to do creative, quality work but also enough space for the other things in life that matter.
Benvenuta is where I found that balance. Here my background in fashion, my eye for fabric and colour, and my love of handcraft come together. Every piece is made with care; from an ottoman upholstered in Dries Van Noten overstock to a textile artwork inspired by my son's drawing. I tell little stories in fabric.
Benvenuta is the name on our house. Welcome home. It sounds simple, but it's exactly the thought behind everything I make. Every piece is meant to make a space more beautiful, warmer and more personal. A home isn't finished when it's done, but when it feels like you.
